Hello friends! As you may know, I’m an Obliger and I need external accountability. Have you read about my friend, Gretchen Rubin (I love her!) So in order to keep myself moving forward with the awesomeness, I will share my goals with you.
You may remember last week’s post about starting with the big picture and moving to the daily tasks to achieve goals. I value family, education, service to others and personal growth, as well as many other things. So I looked at these in the lens of family, health, home, marriage, business and volunteering.
Family (immediate and extended):
- New family pictures
- Three family camping trips
- Cards and Calling Schedule
I think the first two are pretty self-explanatory, but the last may need some more information. Our whole family is in Minnesota. There are some family members that make a great effort to call us each week. Overall, I am not very good about calling others. I’d like to have a list of all the important people in my life and call at least one person a week to keep those relationships growing and strong. I’m going to make a list and carve time each week to make the calls. In addition – I love getting mail. So on the first of every month I’ll buy cards for the birthdays and anniversaries for that month. I’ll get them signed, stamped and sealed that same day and just drop them in the mail before the important day. I’m so excited to be more organized about this!
- Gym workout 5 days a week
- One group fitness class a week
- Run 4 – 5Ks
I work out with a personal trainer several times a week at the gym. I love it and want to keep it up. This December I ran a 5K with my dog, Shasta. We both had so much fun.
- Read 24 books
- Learn French by using Duolingo and Dimache Matin
My reading goal for 2016 was 35 books and I read 38 – oh yeah! I need to cut it back a bit this year because I have other things I want to accomplish. If you add more, you sometimes need to take away in other areas. Also, about the french… Adam and I are traveling to France in April! We are beyond thrilled!
Traveling is something we have wanted to experience for years and now it’s finally happening. Don’t worry, I’ll have several more posts regarding this adventure. So Duolingo is a fun free app that I’ve been using to learn french. Adam found a great MeetUp group that speaks french every Sunday morning. He’s been attending for several months and I’ll be joining him.
- Build shed
- Remove Yew trees
- New dining room lighting
We live in a very small home with a one car attached garage. We use the garage for our laundry room, workshop, storage and play area, as well as motorcycle parking. Our yard has a cement pad in the corner, just waiting for a big shed! We need to build one and move a bunch of lawn equipment and yard furniture out there. We’ll have so much more space for us in the garage.
We need to do a bit of landscaping in front of the house, nothing too major.
Adam has been collecting beautiful liquor bottles to make a new light fixture for the dining room. I hope that we can create something lovely.
- Systematize calendar, blogging, YouTube videos, record keeping, client onboarding
