This established web developer has been in the field and working for herself for 13 years. She’s ready to take her business to the next level but felt bogged down by inefficiencies. She’d tried every productivity tip, but was taking so much time implementing new habits that she wasn’t doing any actual work.
After a consultation and learning about how she works, we decided that systems are where we needed to focus. We needed to create routines for starting and finishing her day. We needed to streamline communication with clients and systematize her documents.
After trying many, many systems this business owner was ready to really dig in and find something that sticks. She also loved the flexibility of working for herself and the opportunity to adjust her schedule as needed. However, she was looking for more structure to enable increased productivity.
We created a habits and routines to begin her workday and again to wrap up. We used printables for recording daily activities and spreadsheets to keep track of jobs and clients. Using bookmarks on the toolbar of Chrome, we saved the most used websites and incorporated them into her routine. By opening all of the bookmarked pages in a certain folder, she was able to quickly check emails, monitor bank accounts, invoicing software and other helpful tools. We took the mental energy out of her routine.
