Happy New Year! Just like most organizers, I LOVE setting goals and crushing them! I’ve done several goal setting posts that I’ll link too, but here’s the freshest take. Here is how my wonderful husband, Adam, and I set and achieve our goals using technology. Enjoy!
So here I am on January 2nd, itching to start my new year off well. A few weeks ago I got my 2017 Goals simmering in my brain. I have them all listed in my Google Keep, pinned right to the top. I think I might also print them and perhaps even frame them to hang in my bedroom. Let me break it down for you: I always start with big, biggest actually. I start with my goals and values. I use these to guide every decision I make. If it’s not inline with my values, I don’t do it.
Yearly Goals are on Google Keep and framed in Bedroom
Adam and I just had our December 2016 wrap-up meeting. I didn’t do so well on any of my goals. It’s tough when you are gone for half the month. Then we started our January 2017 meeting! YAY NEW GOALS! I love goal setting! (I think I mentioned that already!) Each month we use a shared Google Drive document to list our individual goals and family goals.
Monthly Goals are on Google Drive and printed
After discussing our goals for the month, we planned our week. Usually we sit down together on Sunday evenings and look at our shared Google Calendar to see who needs to be where, when and how to get them there. We decide who is dropping the kids off and picking them up and what evening activities are happening. We try to schedule our monthly goals into our weekly plans or they simply don’t happen.
Weekly Goals are kept on shared Google Calendar
We planned our meals for the week in our shared Google Calendar. Adam decided to try a new white chili recipe for this upcoming Friday. A quick search came up with the recipe and he pasted the link into the “Notes” section of the calendar event. On Friday morning, I can open that link and make the chili in the crock pot. Easy peasy!
Daily To-Dos are in Google Keep and a paper planner
As you can see, I try to meet my goals by looking at the big picture first. Then I break them down into monthly, weekly and daily tasks. Obviously we are a Google family! Using this shared technology keeps Adam and I on the same page. We can look up any of these documents, calendars or notes on our respective devices at any time!
